Adding value to a successful arts venue
Yarm School is an independent private day school in Northeast England which provides education to boys and girls from age 3 to 18.
The 750-seat Princess Alexandra Auditorium was opened in 2012 and has been a hugely successful school and community asset, meeting the school’s curriculum needs as well as hosting commercial, professional, amateur and community performances, arts exhibitions and educational events.
The £1m basement extension provided further catering facilities for the busy public performance events, as well as three large additional dressing rooms located directly beneath the main auditorium stage.
Drinks and light refreshments are served from a fully equipped bar during performance intervals, while being discreetly screened and secured from pupil access during school days.
The works were part of an ongoing programme of implementation of a multi-million pound masterplan of the school campus.
