A new careers centre to facilitate the transition of students to university and beyond
The new three storey building is located to the north of the school site which addresses the main entrance approach from Caledonian Way.
Thomas Telford School is arranged symmetrically towards Caledonian Way. In the previous arrangement a car park backed by a three storey block, with a plant room on the second floor and an associated fire escape running down the façade, sat at the centre of the school.
The new building occupies the zone previously used as a car park. The front façade is symmetrical and sits at the centre of the symmetrical composition – screening the existing plant room and providing a more civic presence.
The masonry building is surmounted by a lightweight pavilion structure in glass and steel.
